City Challenge at the 2nd CGDC annual meeting 2012

Center for Global Dialogue and Cooperation in Vienna

Hartmut Beyer, CEO City Challenge GmbH, presented his innovative City Challenge event concept to showcase the latest sustainable technologies in a context of spectacle, music, arts & family entertainment at the 2nd annual meeting of the Center for Global Dialogue and Cooperation in Vienna (www.cgdc.eu). His high profile audience included around 200 international leaders from business, politics, diplomacy and humanitarian causes. Niki Lauda joined Mr. Beyer as an ambassador for City Challenge, supporting the future of motorsport. The CGDC promotes dialogue and cooperation between business and politics and international affairs. It has garnered the support of many high profile experts, scientists, social partners and governments to find solutions to pressing global issues.

 

The meeting held two panel discussions, Energy Trends in the Context of Social Development and Energy Developments – Compatibility with Social Expectations, Energy Reform and Public Perception.

For the second year, President Bill Clinton was the CGDC’s honoured guest, this year receiving the CGDC Award for “Enhancing mutual understanding and dialogue amongst various people.”

In addition to Mr. Clinton, there were many internationally renowned individuals and organizations that were recognized with a CGDC Award: Anatoly Kaprov – First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Committee for Natural Resources, Environment and Ecology for “ENHANCING INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE” Prof. Muhammad Yunus – Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Chairman of Yunus Center for “ENHANCING SOCIAL BUSINESS DIALOGUE” Timothy P. Shriver, Ph.D. – Chairman of the Board and CEO of Special Olympics for “ENHANCING SPORT IN DIALOGUE” Klaus Meine, lead singer from The Scorpions, for “MUSIC FOR DIALOGUE” Their song, “Wind of Change” – the hymn to democracy after the fall of the iron curtain was sang by Klaus Meine, Scorpions’ lead singer. In his rendition of “Wind of Change”, Mr. Meine was accompanied by the children’s choir of the Viennese State Opera. City Challenge took part in the organisation for the evening entertainment.
